Who We Are

The Anderson School of Dance (trading as ASD Dance) is the data controller for personal information collected in connection with our dance school activities. The school is based in Medway, Kent and is run by Debbie Anderson.

What Data We Collect

We collect and hold personal data about the following groups of people in connection with running ASD Dance:

We collect this information when you enrol a student, contact us by email or phone, or communicate with us in the course of your child's attendance at ASD Dance.

We do not collect data we do not need. We do not share personal data with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.

We use the personal data we collect for the following purposes:

We will not use your personal data for any purpose not listed above without your explicit consent.

Photographs and Videos

We may take photographs or videos of students during classes, performances, exams, or competitions. These may be used to:

We will always ask for written consent before using a child's image publicly. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting Debbie at asdance99@gmail.com. Existing published images will be removed within a reasonable time of receiving such a request.

We do not share images with third parties, sell images, or use them for any commercial purpose without separate explicit consent.

How We Store Your Data

We store personal data securely in two forms:

We retain personal data for as long as a student is enrolled with ASD Dance. After a student leaves, we will retain basic records (name, dates of attendance, exam results) for up to three years in case of future queries or safeguarding reviews. All other personal data will be securely deleted or destroyed within 12 months of a student leaving.

Safeguarding records are an exception: these are retained indefinitely in accordance with statutory guidance.

Sharing Your Data

We do not share personal data with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any commercial purpose. Personal data may be shared in the following limited circumstances:

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the following rights in relation to personal data we hold about you or your child:

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

Policy Review

This Privacy Policy will be reviewed at least every two years, or sooner if there is a significant change in legislation, guidance, or the way we process personal data.

The current version of this policy is always available on our website. If we make material changes to how we handle your personal data, we will notify you directly by email.
